RESULTS OF REFERENDUM VOTES
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
PROCLAMATION DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE ELECTION OF
NOVEMBER 7, 1950, FOR CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Maryland at its January
Session of 1949, enacted three Acts to wit: Chapter 226, relat-
ing to the membership of the House of Delegates; Chapter 407,
providing that the Jury shall be the Judges of Law as well as of
the fact; Chapter 714, relating to the reconsideration of Bills;
and
WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Maryland at its Feb-
ruary Session of 1950, enacted two Acts to wit: Chapter 14,
providing that a decree for payment of support for wife or
children, or for alimony shall not constitute a debt; Chapter
56 relating to the signing of State Bonds, Certificates or other
evidences of indebtedness; and
WHEREAS, the said above recited Acts, and each of them pro-
vide for the submission of the same to the legal and qualified
voters of the State for their adoption or rejection, at the elec-
tion to be held on November 7, 1950; and
WHEREAS, at the election held on the day and date above set
forth, the said Acts and each of them were so submitted to the
legal and qualified voters of the State and from the certified
copies of the returns thereof, duly filed with me as directed by
the Constitution of the State, it appears that:
For the adoption of Chapter 226, aforesaid 183, 511 votes
were cast and against the adoption thereof 60, 458 votes
were cast; and
For the adoption of Chapter 407, aforesaid 184, 871 votes
were cast and against the adoption thereof 55, 661 votes
were cast; and
For the adoption of Chapter 714, aforesaid 146, 394 votes
were cast and against the adoption thereof 81, 404 votes
were cast; and
For the adoption of Chapter 14, aforesaid 181, 070 votes
were cast and against the adoption thereof 52, 517 votes
were cast; and
For the adoption of Chapter 56, aforesaid 177, 120 votes
were cast and against the adoption thereof 42, 329 votes
were cast; and
Now, THEREFORE, I. WM. PRESTON LANE, JR., GOVERNOR OF
