2092 JOINT RESOLUTIONS

hereby directed to reduce such items of appropriation as they
may deem most advisable in the budget for the next fiscal year
by amounts which will aggregate at least $1, 000, 000. 00, all in
conformity with and subject to limitations of Section 9 of
Article 15A of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

(Senate Joint Resolution 14)

Senate Joint Resolution authorizing and directing the State
Roads Commission, the Board of Natural Resources and
the State Planning Commission, jointly, to make a study of
the lands along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, with the
view to acquiring portions of said lands for park and park-
way purposes.

WHEREAS, Public Law 811 of the 81st Congress, approved
September 22, 1950, authorizes increasing the width of the
parkway along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal between Great
Falls and Cumberland, Maryland; therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,, That the
State Roads Commission, the Board of Natural Resources and
the State Planning Commission be and they are hereby author-
ized and directed, in conjunction with the United States
Department of the Interior, jointly, to make a study of the
lands along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal between Great
Falls and Cumberland, Maryland, with a view to increasing
the width of the present parkway throughout its entire length
as authorized by Congress; and be it further

Resolved, That the said Commission, the Board of Natural
Resources and the State Planning Commission be and they are
hereby requested to submit their report containing the results
of their study, together with any legislation which they may
deem necessary or desirable, for the acquisition of said lands,
either by gift, purchase, condemnation or otherwise, to the
General Assembly at its 1952 Session.
