for this pilotage service.

CHAPTER 660
(House Bill 748)

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Prince
George's County to refund to Mrs. Louise M. Myers the sum
of $1, 063. 14, representing certain taxes paid to the said
county which in good conscience should be refunded.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Louise M. Myers owned certain property in
Prince George's County which she sold to the University of
Maryland on February 10, 1948; and

WHEREAS, on November 30, 1948, Mrs. Myers paid property
taxes on said property in the amount of $1, 571. 84, for the
period January 1 to December 31, 1948, following the receipt
of a letter dated November 10, 1948, from the Clerk to the
County Commissioners of Prince George's County which ad-
vised Mrs. Myers of an order of said County Commissioners
that upon payment of the tax bill a refund would be made in
the. amount of f 1, 063. 14; and

WHEREAS, after having paid the tax bill in reliance upon
said order, Mrs. Myers was informed by a letter dated Decem-
ber 15, 1948, that the said County Commissioners had rescinded
the said order on grounds that it was not authorized by law;
now therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That the County Commissioners of Prince George's
County be and they are hereby authorized to pay to Mrs. Louise
M. Myers the sum of $1, 063. 14, representing a refund of certain
property taxes paid to said County Commissioners.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
