(House Bill 73)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
35 (3) and 36 (1) of Article 11 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Frederick County",
sub-title "Brunswick", as said sections were enacted by
Chapter 740 of the Acts of 1943, increasing the compensa-
tion of the Mayor and members of the Council of Brunswick
and providing for a referendum thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 35 (3) and 36 (1) of Article 11 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Fred-
erick County", sub-title "Brunswick", as said sections were
enacted by Chapter 740 of the Acts of 1943, be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

(3) The Mayor may suspend from office, subject to review
and final action by the Council, any official or employee ap-
pointed or employed by the Mayor and Council for any neglect
of duty or improper conduct in his office. The Mayor shall
receive the annual salary of [$300. 00] Six Hundred Dollars
($600. 00) and no other compensation whatever; provided that
the Mayor may be reimbursed for any expense actually in-
curred in prosecuting the official business of the municipality.
36.
(1) The Council shall consist of six members, two from each
of the three wards of the town, who shall hold office for two
years or until the qualification of their successors. Each shall
be at least twenty-one years of age, a citizen of the United
States, and for two years next preceding his election a resident
of said town, and assessed with real property in said town
to the amount of five hundred dollars ($500. 00), and shall
have paid taxes thereon for two years preceding his election.
Each member of the Council shall receive an annual salary of
[one hundred dollars ($100. 00)] Two Hundred Forty Dollars
($240. 00) and no other compensation whatever, provided that
