and to follow immediately after Section 47 of said Article,
as enacted by Chapter 740 of the Acts of 1943, providing for
the regulation of taxicabs and their owners and operators
in the Town of Brunswick by the Mayor and Council of said
town, and providing penalties for violations thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Frederick County", sub-title "Brunswick", said
new section to be known as Section 47A, to be under sub-title
"Taxicabs", and to follow immediately after Section 47 of said
Article, as enacted by Chapter 740 of the Acts of 1943, and to
read as follows:

TAXICABS

47A. The Mayor and Council of Brunswick is hereby author-
ized and empowered to enact ordinances providing regulations
for the operation of taxicabs in said town and for the registra-
tion and fixing requirements for the owners and operators of
taxicabs so as to protect the safety, health and general welfare
of said town and its residents, citizens and occupants, provided
said regulations are not in conflict with the laws of the State
of Maryland, and regulations adopted by the Commissioner of
Motor Vehicles.

The Mayor and Council of Brunswick shall be empowered to
request the aid of the Public Service Commission of Maryland
in the determination of rates which may be established under
this Article, and the Public Service Commission of Maryland
shall be empowered to extend such aid as may be requested
from time to time by the Mayor and Council of Brunswick in
the determination of rates so far as such aid is consistent
with the statutory powers conferred upon said Commission by
the laws of Maryland.

The violation of any of the provisions of such ordinance or
ordinances shall be considered a misdemeanor, and upon con-
viction thereof before a trial magistrate of said town, or other
competent Court, the offender shall be subject to a fine of not
exceeding Twenty-five Dollars ($25. 00) for each offense and
in default of payment of the fine, to imprisonment for not
exceeding twenty-five (25) days.

The word "taxicab", when used in this sub-title, shall mean
a taxicab as defined in Section 361 of Article 23 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition).

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.
