bunt or back. No haul seine shall have a greater length of
its bunt or back of twenty-two (22) foot width more than one
hundred feet (100), the above measure to be referred to as
"hung" measure.
(f) The length of braille used on either end of the haul seine
shall not exceed five hundred (500) yards in length, if haul
seine is used in the Chesapeake Bay; if haul seine is used in the
rivers and tributaries, the maximum length of braille shall not
exceed two hundred and fifty (250) yards.
(g) The license of a haul seine rig must be present whenever
haul seine equipment is being fished; every haul seine, prior to
use in any portion of the waters of the Chesapeake Bay or its
tributaries shall be inspected by a Maryland Tidewater Fisher-
ies Inspector and upon approval by said officer as to the com-
pliance of said seine with provisions of this section, shall seal
said haul seine with a seal and number certifying haul seine
is legally inspected and within compliance with provisions of
this section. Any haul seine without a state seal attached
thereto, or with a seal which is broken, shall be illegal and any
person operating any unsealed or broken seal haul seine shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to
penalties imposed by Section 64 of this Article.
(h) It shall be unlawful to haul any seine or net more than
one-third distance across the body of water (bay, sound, river,
creek, cove, or inlet) where haul seine or net is being fished.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of
Sub-sections (e) and (f) of Section 30 of said Article 39 shall
not become effective until January 1, 1952.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.
