treasurer; and the treasurer shall, at the expiration of his
term of office, transfer and deliver to his successors in office
all books, accounts and papers of every kind connected with
his office.
[The County Commissioners are hereby authorized to ap-
point an Assistant Clerk at an annual compensation not to
exceed fifteen hundred dollars ($1, 500. 00. ]

(g) The County Treasurer of Carroll County shall receive an
annual salary of $2, 700. 00. Provided, that the County Commis-
sioners of Carroll County are authorised and empowered to pay
an additional sum to the said Treasurer, as may be set in their
discretion, for services performed by him distinct from those
required of him in his capacity of Treasurer. The said County
Commissioners may also appoint an Assistant Treasurer, at
such annual salary as they shall fix from time to time. ANY
SUCH ADDITIONAL SUMS PROPOSED TO BE PAID TO
SAID TREASURER WITH THE REASONS THEREFOR
AND THE PROPOSED INITIAL SALARY FOR THE AS-
SISTANT TREASURER AND ANY PROPOSED CHANGES
IN SAID SALARY THEREAFTER SHALL BE PUBLISH-
ED IN TWO OR MORE NEWSPAPERS OF GENERAL
CIRCULATION IN CARROLL COUNTY FOR TWO SUC-
CESSIVE WEEKS PRIOR TO FINAL ACTION ON SAID
PROPOSALS BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.
