new sections to Article 19A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, 1947 Supplement, title "Conservation of Na-
tural Resources, " said new sections to be known as Sec-
tions 22 and 23 to be under a new subtitle to be known
as "State Boundaries" to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 21 of said Article, providing for the restoration and
preservation of the markers indicating the boundaries
of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 26 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, 1939 Edition, title "Crimes and Punishments, "
subtitle "Boundaries, " be and it is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. And be it further enacted, That two new
sections to be known as Sections 22 and 23 be and they are
hereby added to Article 19A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, 1947 Supplement, title "Conservation of Na-
tural Resources, " said new Sections to be under new sub-
title to be known as "State Boundaries" to follow imme-
diately after Section 21 of said Article 19A, and to read
as follows:
STATE BOUNDARIES
22. The monuments marking the common boundary be-
tween the State of Maryland and any adjacent state, com-
monwealth or district are hereby declared to be the joint
property of the State of Maryland and such adjoining
state, commonwealth or district.
The Board of Natural Resources and its component de-
partments are hereby authorized to examine from time
to time, at least once in every ten years, the monuments
marking the boundaries of this State. Whenever the Board
of Natural Resources and its constituent departments shall
find the monuments marking the boundary between Mary-
land and any other state, commonwealth or district have
been lost, removed or displaced so that the boundary there-
by becomes obscure, inaccurate or incorrect, the Board of
Natural Resources and its departments shall cooperate with
the proper officials and agencies of the adjacent state, com-
monwealth or district in the replacement, restoration or
repair of the monuments on the said common boundary
line. The Board of Natural Resources is further authorized,
on behalf of the State of Maryland, to make joint agree-
ments and to enter into joint contracts with appropriate
officials or agencies of any adjacent state, commonwealth or
district, and with the United States Coast and Geodetic
Survey or any similar disinterested party or agency, to re-
survey, remark or otherwise delineate more clearly any
