inabove shall continue to apply to the Board of Education
of Allegany County.
39. The County Board of Education shall hold an an-
nual meeting each year on the second Tuesday in May, or
as near as possible thereto in May. At this meeting the
hoard shall elect one of its members to serve as president
and one to serve as vice-president. Other regular meetings
shall be held at least one in each school term, and such
special meetings may be held as the duties and business of
the board may require. The members of the County Boards
of Education shall receive no salary, but each member
shall receive the sum of One Hundred Dollars annually
for traveling and other expenses incident to attending the
meetings and transacting the business of the board within
the county; provided, however, that in Howard County
each member of the Board of Education shall receive an-
nually the sum of Two Hundred Dollars for such traveling
and other expenses [. ] and in Allegany County each mem-
ber of the Board of Education shall receive not more than
Two Hundred Dollars annually for such traveling and
other expenses.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an acute emergency measure and neces-
sary for the immediate preservation of the public health
and safety and having been passed by a yea and nay vote,
supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT
THIS ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1951.
