AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section i55
of Article 17 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition and 1947 Supplement), title "Clerks of Courts, " sub-
title "Clerks of Circuit Courts, " and Section 71 of Article
21 of the said Code, title "Conveyancing, " sub-title "Condi-
tional Contracts of Sale, " as said section was amended by
Chapter 430 of the Acts of 1949, and to add a new sub-
paragraph to sub-section (a) of Section 12 of Article 36 of
said Code, title "Fees of Officers, " sub-title "Clerks of
Court, " said new sub-paragraph to be known as sub-para-
graph (20A), and to follow immediately after sub-paragraph
(20) of said sub-section (a), relating to the recording and
indexing of certain contracts reserving an interest in items
to be attached to real property, the effectiveness of such in-
dexing to give notice to third parties, and the fee for such
indexing.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 65 of Article 17 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947 Supplement), title "Clerks
of Courts, " sub-title "Clerks of Circuit Courts, " be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
65. The Clerks of the Circuit Courts for the several counties
and of the Superior Court of Baltimore City shall record all
deeds, mortgages and other instruments affecting the title
to or any interest in land, required to be recorded, in a well-
bound book or books to be styled "Land Records"; and shall
record all bills of sale, chattel mortgages and other instru-
ments affecting the title to or any interest in personal prop-
erty, required to be recorded, in another well-bound book or
books to be styled "Chattel Records"; any such instrument
affecting the title to or any interest in both land and personal
property shall be so recorded in such Land Records only, and
not in such Chattel Records, but in such case, the index of
Chattel Records and the general alphabetical index provided
for in Section 69 of this Article, shall include a notation that
such instrument has been recorded among such Land Records,
