1742 LAWS OF MARYLAND [CH. 569

OF ANNAPOLIS OR ANY AGENCY THEREOF. SAID
MAYOR AND SAID ALDERMEN NOMINATED IN APRIL,
1953 AND ELECTED IN MAY, 1953 SHALL TAKE OFFICE
ON THE THIRD MONDAY OF JULY, 1953 AND HOLD
OFFICE UNTIL THE THIRD MONDAY OF MAY, 1957,
AND THE MAYOR AND ALDERMEN NOMINATED AND
ELECTED IN THE MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS OF 1957
SHALL HOLD OFFICE FOR FOUR YEARS, UNTIL THE
SUCCESSORS ARE ELECTED OR QUALIFIED--MEAN-
ING HEREBY THAT AFTER ELECTION IN YEAR OF
1953, THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF THE MAYOR AND
ALDERMEN SHALL BE FOUR YEARS, AND MUNICIPAL
PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS SHALL BE
EVERY FOUR YEARS AS HEREIN SET OUT. THE
MAYOR MUST HAVE RESIDED IN THE CITY OF
ANNAPOLIS FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS IMMEDI-
ATELY PRECEDING HIS ELECTION, MUST BE A
QUALIFIED VOTER IN SAID CITY AND MAY NOT
HOLD OFFICE FOR MORE THAN TWO CONSECUTIVE
TERMS. ALDERMEN MUST HAVE RESIDED IN ANNAP-
OLIS FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS IMMEDIATELY PRE-
CEDING THEIR ELECTION, SHALL BE QUALIFIED
VOTERS IN THE CITY AND MUST HAVE BEEN RESI-
DENTS OF THE WARD FROM WHICH THEY ARE
ELECTED FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR IMMEDIATELY
PRECEDING THEIR ELECTION.

5. NOMINATIONS FOR A MAYOR AND ONE ALDER-
MAN FROM EACH WARD IN THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS
SHALL BE MADE BY DIRECT VOTE OF THE RESPEC-
TIVE POLITICAL PARTIES AT PRIMARY ELECTIONS
TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS ON THE
THIRD TUESDAY OF APRIL IN EACH YEAR IN WHICH
THE MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN THE CITY OF ANNAP-
OLIS ARE TO BE HELD. ALL PROVISIONS AS LAID
DOWN IN ARTICLE 33 OF THE CODE OF PUBLIC GEN-
ERAL LAWS OF MARYLAND, TITLE "ELECTIONS",
SHALL APPLY TO ALL PRIMARY AND MUNICIPAL
ELECTIONS HELD IN THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That sub-paragraph (f)
Section 274A of Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title, "Anne Arundel County",
sub-title, "Districts", be and the same is hereby repealed

and re-enacted to read as follows:

SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT SEC-
TION 274A (F) OF THE ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY CODE
(1947 EDITION), BEING ARTICLE 2 OF THE CODE OF
