1664 LAWS OF MARYLAND [CH. 548

161A. The Mayor shall receive an allowance of $7. 50
and each Councilman shall receive an allowance of $5. 00
for each meeting attended by each such person respectively
to cover the expenses incident of such an attendance. Pro-
vided, however, that no such person shall be paid for more
than fifteen meetings in any one calendar year.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.

CHAPTER 548
(Senate Bill 421)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Article 49B of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement),
title "Interracial Commission, " sub-title "Commission
to Study Problems Affecting the Colored Population, "
and to enact in lieu thereof three new sections, to be
known as Sections 1, 2 and 3 of said Article, creating
a Commission on Interracial Problems and Relations.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Article 49B of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Interracial
Commission, " sub-title "Commission to Study Problems
Affecting the Colored Population, " be and they are hereby
repealed, and that three new actions, to be known as Sec-
tions 1, 2 and 3 of said Article, be and they are hereby
enacted in lieu thereof, to read as follows:

1. There is hereby created a Commission on Inter-
racial Problems and Relations, to consist of nine members,
who shall be appointed by the Governor for a term of six
years, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate.
Of the members first appointed, three shall be for a term
of two years, three for a term of four years and three for
a term of six years but thereafter, their successors shall
be appointed for terms of six years. The Governor shall
