ing, or holding city offices, it shall be construed to include
the feminine gender.
PRESERVATION OF PEACE AND ORDER
73. All judges of elections and boards of registry shall
have the authority and shall be required while in the per-
formance of their official duties to keep peace and order
and to enforce obedience to their lawful commands and to
the registration, nomination, and election laws and ordi-
nances of the city at and around any place where regis-
tration or a primary, special, or regular city election or
count or canvass thereof is being held. Any judge of
elections or member of the board of registry shall have
the power to summon and require the presence of witnesses
before them for any purpose connected with the duties of
their office. They may commit for trial any person dis-
turbing the peace or in any other way interfering with
the performance of their official duties or with registra-
tion or any primary, special, or regular city election.
REGULATION AND CONTROL
74. The board of aldermen shall have the power to pro-
vide by ordinance in every respect not covered by the pro-
visions of this charter for the conduct of registration and
all primary, special, and regular city elections and for the
prevention of fraud in connection therewith and for a
recount of ballots in case of doubt or fraud.
PENALTIES
75. Any person who (a) fails to perform any duty
required of him under the provisions of this article or any
rules and regulations of the board of aldermen passed
hereunder, (b) in any manner wilfully and corruptly vio-
lates any of the provisions of this article or any rules or
regulations of the board of aldermen passed hereunder,
or (c) wilfully and corruptly does anything which will or
will tend to affect fraudulently any registration or pri-
mary, special, or regular city election, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished
by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500) or
by imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or by
both such fine and imprisonment.

FINANCIAL SUPERVISION
76. The mayor shall have complete supervision over
