SALARY
27. The mayor shall receive a salary of three thousand
dollars ($3, 000. 00) per year for his services.
POWERS
28. (a) The mayor shall see that the ordinances of
the city are faithfully executed and shall be the chief ex-
ecutive officer and the head of the administrative branch
of the city government. The mayor shall be responsible
for the administration of the city's affairs to the board of
aldermen and to the voters of the city.
(b) The mayor shall prepare or cause to be prepared
annually a report in the name of the government of the
City of Frederick. This report shall deal not only with
the financial condition of the city, but also with the accom-
plishments of the city and its various agencies. This report
shall be printed for such distribution as may be deemed
advisable.
(c) The mayor, with the advice and consent of the board
of aldermen, shall appoint the heads of all offices, depart-
ments, and agencies of the government of the City of Fred-
erick as established by this charter or by ordinance of
the board of aldermen, with the exception of the city
register and collector of taxes, who shall be elected as pro-
vided in Section 62. All office, department, or agency heads
so appointed shall serve at the pleasure of the mayor, but
may be discharged only with the consent of a majority of
the board of aldermen. All subordinate officers and em-
ployees of the offices, departments, and agencies shall be
appointed by the head of the office, department, or agency
concerned in accordance with the provisions of Sections
125 through 138 of this charter.
(d) The mayor shall serve as president of the board of
aldermen as provided in Section 12 of this charter.
(e) The mayor shall have the power to veto ordinances
passed by the board of aldermen as provided in Section 21.
The mayor shall also have the power to veto orders and
resolutions incurring any debt, or paying out, or in any
way appropriating any money.
(f) The mayor each year shall report to the board of
aldermen the condition of municipal affairs, and make such
recommendations as he deems proper for the public good
and welfare of the city.
