AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 246 and 252 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Baltimore County (1948 Edition, being Article 3 of the
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Baltimore
County, " sub-titles "Fire Department System" and
"Police Department System, " respectively, relating to
the pension of firemen and policemen in Baltimore
County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 246 and 252 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Baltimore County (1948 Edition, being Article 3
of the Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Baltimore
County, " sub-titles "Fire Department System" and "Police
Department System, " respectively, be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
246. The County Commissioners of Baltimore County
are hereby authorized to retire from office in the Fire De-
partment of Baltimore County any permanent member
thereof, including the Chief Engineer, who has become per-
manently disabled while in the active performance of duty,
and place the member so retired upon a pension roll and
to allow to each pensioner annually an amount equal to
one-half the yearly amount received by him at the time
of his retirement, payable in monthly installments [. That]
, provided that no member of the Fire Department of Bal-
timore County shall be retired until he shall have been
examined by the Board of Examiners herein provided for,
and their finding as to the disability assigned as reason for
a retirement shall have been certified by them to the
County Commissioners of Baltimore County and provided
further that any member retired prior to January 1, 1951,
shall be allowed an amount at least equal to the amount
such member would receive had he been retired as of
January 1, 1951, from an employment similar to that from
which he was retired.
252. The County Commissioners of Baltimore County
are hereby authorized to retire from office in the Police
