AN EMERGENCY MEASURE AND NECESSARY FOR
THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVATION OF THE PUBLIC
HEALTH AND SAFETY, AND HAVING BEEN
PASSED BY A YEA AND NAY VOTE, SUPPORTED
BY THREE-FIFTHS OF ALL OF THE MEMBERS
ELECTED TO EACH OF THE TWO HOUSES OF THE
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, THE SAME
SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM THE DATE OF ITS
PASSAGE.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
229 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title
"School Attendanceas amended by Chapter 713 of the
Acts of 1949, providing for an additional method of al-
lowance for mentally handicapped children.
"SCHOOL ATTENDANCE", AS AMENDED BY
CHAPTER 76 OF THE ACTS OF 1950, PROVIDING
FOR AN ADDITIONAL METHOD OF ALLOWANCE
FOR MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY HANDI-
CAPPED CHILDREN.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 229 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-
title "School Attendance", as amended by Chapter 713 of

the Acts of 1949, be and it is hereby repealed and re-

CHAPTER 76 OF THE ACTS OF 1950, BE AND IT IS
HEREBY REPEALED AND RE- enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

229. (a) It shall be the duty of the State Board of Edu-
cation, to set up standards, rules and regulations for the
examination, classification and education of such handi-
