shall appoint a secretary whose salary shall be five hundred
dollars ($500) per year.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1951.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 2 of Chapter 863 of the Acts of 1945, creating the
Lexington Market Authority for the purpose of modify-
ing the provisions relating to the residence qualifications
of the members of the Lexington Market Authority.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 2 of Chapter 863 of the Acts of 1945 be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
2. (Lexington Market Authority. ) (a) There is hereby
created a body corporate and politic to be known as the
"Lexington Market Authority, " which shall be deemed an
instrumentality of the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more and a public corporation, and by that name, style
and title said body may contract and be contracted with,
sue and be sued, implead and be impleaded, and complain
and defend in all courts of law and equity. The Authority
shall consist of five members to be appointed by the Mayor
of Baltimore, each of whom shall be a citizen of the State
and a resident of the Baltimore Metropolitan District at
the time of his respective appointment or reappointment, at
least three of whom shall be residents of Baltimore City
at the time of their respective appointments or reappoint-
ments. The original appointments shall be made in such
manner that the term of one member shall expire on July 1,
1946, the term of another member shall expire on July 1,
1947, the term of another member shall expire on July 1,
