effect from the date of its passage.

(House Bill 534)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section
(e) of Section 180 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes",
sub-title "State Tax Commission", as said sub-section was
added by Chapter 64 of the Acts of 1948 (Extraordinary
Session) authorizing the County Council of Montgomery
County to designate one of the County Assessors as Assistant
Supervisor of Assessments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 180 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-
title "State Tax Commission", as said sub-section was added
by Chapter 64 of the Acts of 1948, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

180.

(e) The County [Commissioners] Council of Montgomery
County may, upon recommendation of the Supervisor of Assess-
ments designate one of the County Assessors as Assistant
Supervisor of Assessments, and the said Council may levy and
pay such additional sum in excess of the amounts hereinabove
prescribed to the assessors of said county, as [in their dis-
cretion they] the Council shall determine; provided, however,
that the portion of said salaries to be paid by the State shall
be limited to the amounts as prescribed in the schedule herein-
before set forth.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1951.
