SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 8 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Elections", sub-title "Elec-
tion Officials", said section having been amended by Chapter
749 of the Acts of 1949, be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

8. In the City of Baltimore, in the year 1946, and thereafter,
the Board of Supervisors of Elections shall have power, in their
discretion, to fix the compensation of judges of elections at not
more than Twenty Dollars a day for each election day and at
not more than Fifteen Dollars a day for each revision or sup-
plementary registration day, which compensation shall be paid
by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore. The Board of
Supervisors of Elections of the various counties of the State,
within the amounts authorized by the County Commissioners
of each County, shall have power to fix the compensation of
judges and clerks of election or registration, which compensa-
tion shall be paid by the respective County Commissioners of
each County, and shall not be less than Seven Dollars per day,
nor more than Twenty Dollars per day for each day actually
served. Provided, however, that in Allegany County the sev-
eral judges and clerks of election or registration shall be
paid at least eight dollars for each day spent in the perform-

ance of their duties, plus extra compensation of at least One

Dollar per hour for all hours over eight in any one day.

EACH JUDGE AND CLERK OF ELECTION SHALL BE
PAID THE SUM OF $22. 00 PER SITTING AND NOT PER
DAY IN FULL PAYMENT FOR ALL SERVICES REN-
DERED IN CONNECTION WITH ANY PRIMARY OR GEN-
ERAL ELECTION OR RETURN DAY OR DAYS. IN AD-
DITION, EACH RETURN JUDGE SHALL BE PAID THE
SUM OF |5. 00 FOR APPEARING AND QUALIFYING ON
THE DAY OF QUALIFICATION.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.
