gany County", sub-title "County Commissioners", said sec-
tion having been enacted by Chapter 343 of the Acts of 1947
and to enact in lieu thereof a new Section 99A to stand in
the place and stead of the section so repealed, relating to
the purchase of supplies and equipment and to contracts for
public work and improvements for the several departments
of Allegany County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 99A of Article 1 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Allegany County",
sub-title "County Commissioners", said section having been
enacted by Chapter 343 of the Acts of 1947 be and it is hereby
repealed and that a new Section 99A be and it is hereby en-
acted in lieu thereof to stand in the place and stead of the
section so repealed and to read as follows:
99A. In contracting for any necessary public work or im-
provement or for the purchase of supplies and equipment
needed at any time by the several departments of the County,
the County Commissioners of Allegany County may forthwith
enter into contracts for said public work or improvement and
may forthwith purchase said supplies and equipment on an
order passed by the said County Commissioners provided that
the cost of said public work or improvement or the purchase
price of said supplies and equipment shall not exceed Thirty-
fived Hundred Dollars ($3, 500. 00) ONE THOUSAND DOL-
LARS ($1, 000. 00). When the cost of any project -for public
work or improvement or the purchase price of any supplies
and equipment shall exceed Thirty-five Hundred Dollars
($3, 500. 00) ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1, 000. 00), the
Clerk to the County Commissioners shall advertise for one
week in NOT LESS THAN two newspapers published in Alle-
gany County for bids to perform said public work or improve-
ment or to furnish said supplies and equipment; and said bids
shall be opened by the Clerk to the County Commissioners in
the presence of the said County Commissioners, and the said
County Commissioners of Allegany County shall award the
contract to the lowest responsible bidder whose bid shall be
considered reasonable, or, in its discretion, may reject any or
all bids.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.
