AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-
section (a) of Section 110 of Article 52 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947 Supple-
ment), title "Justices of the Peace, " sub-title "Trial
Magistrates System, " said sub-section having been
amended by Chapters 470 and 752 of the Acts of 1949,
increasing the compensation of the Substitute Trial Mag-
istrate in Somerset County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (a) of Section 110 of Article 52 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947 Sup-
plement), title "Justices of the Peace, " sub-title "Trial
Magistrates System, " said sub-section having been amended
by Chapters 470 and 752 of the Acts of 1949, be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
110. (Substitute Magistrates. ) (a) In addition to the
justices of the peace and justices of the peace at large here-
inbefore specified, the Governor, by and with the advice
and consent of the Senate, shall appoint one justice of the
peace at large for each county of the State who shall be
designated "Substitute Trial Magistrate. " Such magistrate
shall post the bond required of trial magistrates and shall
receive a salary of $100. 00 per year, except the substitute
magistrate appointed for Baltimore County, who shall
receive $1, 000. 00 per year in addition to the compensation
received when actually sitting as a substitute as herein-
after provided, and except the substitute magistrate ap-
pointed for Kent [County, ] and Somerset Counties, who
shall receive Five Hundred Dollars ($500. 00) per year in
addition to the compensation received when actually sitting
as a substitute, as hereinafter provided, and except the
substitute magistrate appointed for Prince George's
County, who shall receive $1, 300. 00 per year, in addition
to the compensation received when actually sitting as a
substitute as hereinafter provided. And in Wicomico
County said substitute trial magistrate shall receive a
salary of $800 per year.
