thirteen (13) other policewomen [; ]. The civilian and
clerical employees of the Police Department of Baltimore
City may include one (1) Traffic Engineer; five (5) inves-
tigators; one (1) draftsman, and one (1) clerk, Traffic
Bureau; one (1) supervisor, Taxicab Bureau; twenty-six
(26) matrons, ' one (1) male stenographer; one (1) line-
man designated as assistant foreman; one (1) lineman
designated as foreman and thirteen (13) [lineman] line-
men, Telephone and Signal Division; eighteen (18) char-
women; three (3) hostlers; thirty-eight (38) chauffeurs;
one (1) chief engineer, two (2) engineers and three (3)
firemen, Marine Division; one (1) foreman, such number
of maintenance men and laborers as may in the judgment
of the Commissioner be necessary; one (1) chief machin-
ist; fourteen (14) machinists; one (1) printer; twenty-
four (24) turnkeys; twenty-five (25) signal and telephone
operators; eight (8) station-house clerks, and such [num-
ber of] additional clerks and civilian employees for duty
at police headquarters, or elsewhere in the City of Balti-
more, as may in the judgment of the [said] Police Com-
missioner be necessary.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an acute emergency measure and
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
health and safety, and having been passed by a yea and
nay vote, supported by three fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly
of Maryland, the same shall take effect from the date of
its passage.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT
THIS ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1951.
