AN ACT to repeal Section 533 of the Charter and Public
Local Laws of Baltimore City (1949 Edition), title
"Miscellaneous Local Laws", sub-title "Police Commis-
sioner", heading "Organization of Force", and to enact
in lieu thereof a new Section, to be known as Section 533,
to follow immediately after Section 532, relating to the
salaries and compensation of all uniformed officers and
all clerical and civilian employees of the Police Depart-
ment of Baltimore City.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 533 of the Charter and Public Local Laws of
Baltimore City (1949 Edition), title "Miscellaneous Local
Laws", sub-title "Police Commissioner", heading "Organ-
ization of Force", be and the same is hereby repealed, and
that a new Section be and it is hereby enacted in lieu there-
of, to be known as Section 533, to follow immediately after
Section 532, and to read as follows:
533. (1) On and after January 1, 1952, the compensa-
tion of all the uniformed officers and all clerical and civilian
employees of the Police Department of Baltimore City shall
be as provided for in the annual Ordinance of Estimates
of Baltimore City.
(2) The Police Commissioner shall, from time to time,
designate positions in the Department, which require tech-
nical skill for the proper performance of the duties, as
technical positions. The Commissioner shall provide for
additional compensation for each rank of uniformed offi-
cers which shall be paid to those officers who serve in tech-
nical positions, designated by the Commissioner as afore-
said, during the time that they serve therein. The Com-
missioner may, in his discretion, transfer uniformed offi-
cers from their technical positions to other positions and
they shall thereafter be paid the regular pay for their rank.
The Commissioner shall, in his annual estimate prepared
in accordance with Section 548 of this Article, make provi-
sion for the additional compensation referred to above.
(3) The compensation and salaries of all uniformed offi-
cers and all clerical and civilian employees of the Police
