CHAPTER 416

(House Bill 607)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 2
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel County
(1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County", sub-title
"Annapolis'", relating to the City Attorney of the City of
Annapolis.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Anne
Arundel County (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel
County", sub-title "Annapolis", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

2. On and after July 15, 1945, the said Mayor and Alder-
men of the City of Annapolis shall elect a member of the Bar
of Anne Arundel County, a resident of the City of Annapolis,
to be the City Attorney, to serve for the term of four years;
said City Attorney shall not be entitled to vote with the Mayor
sand Aldermen of the City of Annapolis. He shall receive [a
salary of Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1, 200. 00) a year, pay-

able monthly] such salary as shall be fixed by ordinance of
the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis, and he

shall AND ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF ANNAPOLIS.
HE SHALL RECEIVE A SALARY OF THREE THOUSAND
($3, 000. 00) A YEAR, PAYABLE MONTHLY, AND SHALL
BE ALLOWED NO OTHER COMPENSATION. He shall
attend at the meetings of the said Mayor and Aldermen, and
shall attend to all the law business of said City, and shall
advise the Mayor and Aldermen as to all legal matters at such
time or times as he may be called upon so to do. [ He shall not

be authorized to employ any other attorney to assist him in
his legal work without the consent of the Mayor and Aldermen
of said City first had and obtained, and the compensation of
the attorney especially employed shall not exceed the sum of
Five Hundred Dollars ($500. 00) in any one case. ] Any and
all special assistance pertaining to his legal work shall be

with the advice and consent of the Mayor and Aldermen of

the City of Annapolis.
