(House Bill 182)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section
(10) of Section 60 of Article 1 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Allegany County",
sub-title "Circuit Court", as said Section 60 was enacted by
Chapter 767 of the Acts of 1947, relating to the expenditure
in Allegany County for the preparation of plats relating
to the land records of said County.
WHEREAS, Allegany County instituted a program for prepa-
ration of plats for land records of said county, which is esti-
mated to cost a total of about Twenty Thousand Dollars
($20, 000. 00); and
WHEREAS, by Chapter 767 of the Acts of 1947, expenditures
for this purpose were restricted to $1, 000 per year; and
WHEREAS, this restriction on the amount of annual expendi-
ture has resulted in slowing up the work on said project and
the civil engineers employed thereon have threatened to resign
due to periodic interruptions due to exhaustion of the annual
expenditures early in the year; now therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sub-section (10) of Section 60 of Article 1 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Allegany County", sub-title "Circuit Court", as said Section
60 was enacted by Chapter 767 of the Acts of 1947, be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
60.
(10) The said Clerk shall employ a competent surveyor or
draftsman who shall, under the direction of said Clerk, make
the copies of plats hereby required, and where necessary so
reduce the scale of such plats as to conform to the require-
ments herein contained; and, where such scale is reduced, the
draftsman or person making the same shall note on said copies
the scale upon which the original plat was drawn. The com-
pensation of the person so employed shall be fixed by said
