(Senate Bill 493)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 272 of the Baltimore County Code (1948 Edition),
being Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Baltimore County, " said section being
under "Title 22. Protection of Wild Life and Birds, " and
said section having been amended by Chapter 154 of the
Acts of 1951, relating to the carrying of firearms in cer-
tain areas of Baltimore County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 272 of the Baltimore County Code (1948 Edi-
tion), being Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Baltimore County, " said section being
under "Title 22. Protection of Wild Life and Birds, " and
said section having been amended by Chapter 154 of the
Acts of 1951, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
272. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person [under
eighteen years of age not accompanied by and under the
supervision of a responsible adult to carry] to carry a
rifle or shotgun with buck shot or slug shot or slug load or
single ball load [any firearm] into an area in Baltimore
County frequented by wild animals or birds during the
closed season for hunting such wild animals or birds. This
section shall not apply to members of the armed forces of
the United States or members of the National Guard when
in uniform or to the owner or occupant of lands on which
he is regularly domiciled.
(b) Any person [under eighteen years of age not ac-
companied by and under the supervision of a responsible
adult] carrying such firearms in areas [any firearms into
an area] in Baltimore County frequented by wild animals
or birds during the closed season on such wild animals or
birds shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon convic-
tion thereof shall be fined not less than $25. 00 [$10. 00] nor
more than $50. 00 for each such violation and in addition
thereto the firearms so carried shall be subject to confisca-
tion.
