for any year, whether a protest against said assessment
was filed before the date of finality or not, in order to
correct erroneous and improper assessments and to pre-
vent injustice, provided that the reasons for such decrease
or abatement shall be clearly set forth in such order.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.

CHAPTER 327
(Senate Bill 375)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 198 of Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Calvert County, "
sub-title "North Beach, " said section having been amend-
ed by Chapter 480 of the Acts of 1933, increasing the
rate of compensation for the collection of taxes in the
Town of North Beach.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 198 of Article 5 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Calvert County, "
sub-title "North Beach, " said section having been amended
by Chapter 480 of the Acts of 1933, be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

198. The Council may annually levy a general tax for
the expenses of the corporation upon the taxable property
within the town limits, and the same shall be collected by
the Treasurer, or by a collector especially appointed by
the Council for that purpose, whose compensation for col-
lecting said taxes shall not exceed [five (5) ] seven and
one-half (7½)
per cent, on the amount collected, and the
said Treasurer, or collector, in collecting said taxes, shall
have full power to distrain for the same in the same man-
ner as the collectors of State and county taxes; provided
that the tax so levied shall not, in any one year, exceed
