SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 7 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Carroll County, " sub-title "Taneytown, " said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 416A, to follow immediately
after Section 416 of said Article, authorizing the Bur-
gess and Commissioners MAYOR AND CITY COUN-

CIL of Taneytown to prescribe certain regulations for
the construction of buildings and the planning of the
sub-division of land and to prescribe penalties for the
violation thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 7
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edi-
tion), title "Carroll County, "'sub-title "Taneytown, " said
new section to be known as Section 416A, to follow imme-
diately after Section 416 of said Article and to read as
follows:

416A. (a). The Burgess and Commissioners MAYOR
AND CITY COUNCIL of Taneytown shall have the pow-

er, by ordinance, to

(1) establish building lines within the corporate limits
of the Town of Taneytown;

(2) require that a permit be obtained from said Bur-

gess and Commissioners MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
prior to the construction of any building within said corp-
orate limits;

(3) require that any plan for the subdivision of land
within said corporate limits be approved by said Burgess
MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL;
