which the said Commission may issue under authority
which has been conferred upon said Commission.
Whereas, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Com-
mission is charged with the responsibility of furnishing
sanitary facilities to certain sections of Montgomery and
Prince George's Counties; and
Whereas, the unprecedented growth in population of the
area within the Washington Suburban Sanitary District
has made it necessary for the Washington Suburban Sani-
tary Commission greatly to increase its installations and
employees; and
Whereas, its present office space is totally inadequate
for the amount of work which the Commission is now
called upon to do; and
Whereas, it is particularly essential that space be pro-
vided to house meters and other equipment and devices
which will show whether the water being supplied con-
tains the proper and necessary solutions to safeguard the
health of those using the water; and
Whereas, it is also necessary to house equipment which
will show water pressure at one central location; and
Whereas, it is also essential that proper facilities and
equipment be provided and housing facilities made avail-
able for such equipment and the employees operating
same; therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission be and it
is hereby requested to remodel and enlarge its general
office building and to remodel its old office building in
Hyattsville and to pay the cost of same from the proceeds
<of any issue of General Construction Bonds which the
said Commission has authority to issue; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby
requested to send a copy of this resolution, under the
Great Seal of the State of Maryland, to the Washington
Suburban Sanitary Commission.
