miles of its trackage were torn up, buildings and cars
burned, and locomotives and bridges destroyed; and

Whereas, despite such disasters and other serious emer-
gencies the Baltimore and Ohio is today at the zenith of
its power and usefulness, being recognized everywhere for
its progressive leadership, its forward-looking policies, the
high morale of its workers, and the excellence of its service,
it stands in the front rank of its contemporaries in the
American railroad field; and

Whereas, The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company
as created by the act of the Maryland State Legislature,
February 28, 1827, has performed good and faithful serv-
ice ever since, has grown and prospered, and has reflected
credit upon our State and Nation; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That we
express our gratification that the Baltimore and Ohio will
shortly reach its great age of one hundred and twenty-five
years in unprecedented strength and vigor, and extend our
best wishes for its continued expansion, usefulness and
prosperity; and be it further

Resolved, That his Excellency, Governor Theodore R.
McKeldin, be requested to present to the President of
the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company a copy of this
resolution, and a copy also be deposited in the Hall of Rec-
ords at Annapolis, Maryland, with the original charter of
the Company; and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State of Maryland be
instructed to send a copy of this resolution to the Directors
and Officers of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company.
