before entering any other employment shall be given
credit with the Ferry System for such time spent in
military service as if he actually had been employed by
the Ferry System during such period. An employee who
left the service of the Ferry System after June 1, 1950,
for military service in the armed forces of the United
States shall be deemed to be an eligible employee in the
service of the Ferry System. He shall be given credit under
this Act for all service with the Ferry System and for
such time spent in military service as fully as if he had
been with the Ferry System for the entire period. Pro-
vided, however, that this provision as to employees leaving
the service of the Ferry System after June 1, 1950, shall
not apply unless the employee had at least twelve months
actual employment with the Ferry System prior to enter-
ing military service.

The above sums shall be regarded as a salary increase
amortized equally over the monthly salary period of each
employee for the six months next preceding the termina-
tion of the Chesapeake Bay Ferry System but such in-
crease shall be paid in one sum as hereinafter provided.

[Provided, however, the salary increases provided in
this bill shall not apply to any employee, who is offered
employment, prior to the termination date of his em-
ployment by the said Chesapeake Bay Ferry System, with
the State of Maryland at a rate of pay commensurate
with the job held by him with the Chesapeake Bay Ferry
System.]

The State Roads Commission shall have the authority
to determine on what date, prior to the termination of
the

FERRY AND THE CLAIBORNE-ROMANCOKE FERRY
SYSTEMS, on which the increaso INCREASES, retro-
active for six months prior thereto, shall be paid; pro-
vided, however, no employee shall be entitled to said in-
crease INCREASES unless he shall remain in the employ
of said system until the termination thereof OF THE
MATAPEAKE-SANDY POINT AND/OR CLAIBORNE-
ROMANCOKE FERRY.
