CHAPTER 94.

Passed Jan. 30,
1838.

An act to provide for the building of a Public Bridge
over the South East Branch of the Wicomico River,
at Salisbury, in Somerset County.

Commissioners.

SECTION l. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Jehu Parsons, John Rider, Richard
Waller, George Todd, and Joshua Leonard, be, and

they are hereby appointed commissioners, a majority
of whom shall have power to act, to contract with,
and employ any person or persons to build and com-
plete a bridge over the south east branch of the Wico-
mico River, at Salisbury in Somerset county, where
the road leading from Rider's Mills to Salisbury,
crosses said stream, at Walnut Tree Landing.

Contract.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the aforesaid commissioners, or a majority of them,
to offer the contract for building said bridge, publick-
ly, in the Town of Salisbury, after they shall have

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the aforesaid com-
missioners, or a majority of them, after contracting
for the building and completion of said bridge, shall
report the amount and terms of contract to the Levy
Court of Somerset County, who are hereby authorized

and required to levy the same upon the assessable pro-
perty of said county, to be paid by the collector to the
builder or builders of said bridge or his or their order,
when the bridge shall be finished, and shall have been
received by the Levy Court.

Compensation.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the justices of the
levy court for Somerset county, are hereby authorized
and required to allow to each of the aforesaid commis-
sioners, two dollars per day and no more, for each day
they may be necessarily employed in executing the du-
ties imposed by this act.
