CHAPTER 55.

Passed Feb. 15,
1838.

An act for the condemnation of a lot of ground for a
Public Landing in St. Mary's county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it has been represented to this General
Assembly, by the petition of sundry citizens of St.
Mary's county, in the vicinity of St. Richards, in the
said county, that they labour under great inconvenience
for the want of a public landing at the above mentioned
place: — Therefore,

Commissioners
empowered.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Joseph David, Joshua Cullumber and
Edward Joy be, and they, or any two of them, are
hereby appointed commissioners to meet at the above
named place on the Patuxent river in St. Mary's coun-
ty, to examine and determine whether the public con-
venience does require that a public landing should be
established at or near the place above named and if in
their opinion the public convenience does require the
said landing to be established, then they or any two of

them, shall lay out a quantity of land not exceeding
two acres, at or near the place above specified, in such
manner as they or any two of them may think most
condusive to the public benefit, and the said commis-
sioners, or any two of them, are hereby required to

ed by any person or persons whose land may have been

Costs.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
hereinbefore appointed to condemn and locate said land-
ing, are hereby required to return a true estimate of
the costs of such condemnation and location of the

said county, whose duty it shall be to levy the same on
the assessable property of St. Mary's county, at the
first annual levy thereafter, to be collected as other
county levies are now collected, and paid to the person
