otherwise.

CHAP. 333.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That before entering on
the duties of their respective offices, and on the day on
which they shall first enter on the discharge of said
duties, the said registers and their clerks, and the
judges of all elections in said city and their clerks re-
spectively, shall solemnly swear or affirm, that they
will faithfully and honestly perform the duties of their
respective offices, and observe, in all things, the re-
quirements of the Constitution of the United States,
and the State of Maryland, and the laws of the Gene-
ral Assembly of Maryland in relation to elections, in
conducting said registry or election, and any justice
of the peace for said city shall be competent to admin-

of the said registers, or a majority of them, to sit at
some public and convenient place within the limits of
their several wards, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays of
every week, from the first Monday of August to the
third Wednesday in September, inclusive, in each and
every year,for the purpose of registering the names of
voters, who may apply to be registered, the said re-
