CHAP. 319.

Case of vacancy.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That a majority of the
bridge commissioners shall or may exercise all the
authority hereby given to the commissioners above
named as such, and in case any such bridge commis-
sioner shall die, resign, or neglect to act, the vacancy
or vacancies shall be filled up by the county commis-
sioners.

Compensation.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said bridge com-
missioners shall be allowed two dollars a day, each,
for every day they shall necessarily attend as such;
provided, that no one of said commissioners shall be
entitled to an allowance in the whole exceeding ten
dollars.

Condemnation
of ground.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That if the place that
may he fixed on for the erection of said bridge should
not be within the lines of the public road above men-
tioned, then and in that case the county commissioners,
upon application being made to them, shall cause pro-

ceedings to be had for the condemnation of as much
ground as may he deemed necessary for said bridge
and for a public way to communicate between each end

Valuation &c.

thereof and the public road now existing; which pro-
ceedings shall, as nearly as may he, be the same that
are directed by law with respect to laying out and
opening public roads in said county.

CHAPTER 319.

Passed Mar. 29,
1838.

A further supplement to an act, entitled, an act respect
ing Hay and Straw, brought for sale to the City of
Baltimore, and to repeal an act passed at December
session eighteen hundred and thirty-seven.

Appoint two
inspectors.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor, by and with the ad-
.vicc and consent of the Senate, be, and he is hereby
authorised to appoint two Inspectors of Hay and Straw
for the city of Baltimore.

Hay scales.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
of the said inspectors, under the direction of the Gov-
ernor, to rent or purchase, from the Mayor and City
