fore the twentieth day of April, in the year eighteen
hundred ami thirty-eight; provided, that the expense
thereof shall not exceed fifty dollars.

CHAPTER 318.

CHAP. 318.

An act to authorise the building of a Bridge over By-
num's Run, in Harford County.

Passed Mar. 29,
1838.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Bennet M. Billingslea, Richard Green
and M. G. McComas, be, and they are hereby appoint-
ed commissioners to determine on a site for a bridge,
at or near the place where the public road leading
from Baltimore to Havre de Grace crosses Bynum's

Commissioners
to build.

Run, in the vicinity of Bush, and the said commission-
ers are hereby authorised to erect or cause to be erect-
ed across the said run, a good and substantial bridge,
with stone abutments of an elevation above the mark of
the highest freshets; the said bridge to be weather-
boarded with pond pine boards and covered with a roof
of cypress or pine shingles, and to be completed in a

workmanlike manner in all respects, and fora sum not
to exceed six hundred and fifty dollars.

Limitation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of Harford county are hereby authorised and directed
to levy upon the assessable property of said county, at
their next county levy, one half of the said sum, and
the other half of the said sum at their levy in the year
eighteen hundred and thirty-nine and to cause the
same to be collected and made payable to the commis-
sioners for building said bridge, or to their order; pro-
vided, that no payment shall be made as aforesaid, un-
til the said bridge shall have been finished, and the
abutments properly filled in. and approved by the in-
spectors whom the county commissioners shall appoint
to examine the said bridge.

Levy directed.

Collected and

paid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That as soon as the said
commissioners shall have contracted for the building of
said bridge, they shall make a report thereof to the
county commissioners.
