CHAPTER 30.

Passed Jan. 20,
1838.

An act to authorise the union of the Baltimore and Port
Deposite Rail Road Company, the Wilmington and
Susquehanna Rail Road Company and the Philadel-
phia, Wilmington and Baltimore Rail Road Company.

Union authoris-
ed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Baltimore and Port Deposite Rail
Road Company and the Wilmington and Susquehanna
Rail Road Company, by such mode as has been or may
hereafter be authorised by any meetings of Stockhold-
ers of said corporations respectively, be and they arc
hereby authorised to form a union with each other and
with the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Rail
Road Company, so that the said three corporations
shall be merged in and constitute one body corporate
under the name of the Philadelphia, Wilmington and
Baltimore Rail Road Company, upon such terms and
conditions and under such regulations as may he speci-
fied in the agreement of union, and that said body cor-
porate so formed shall be entitled within this State to
all the powers and privileges and advantages now be-
longing to the two first above named corporations.

Copy of such a-
greement to be
recorded.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That a copy of said agree-
ment of union shall, within sixty days after the date
thereof, authenticated by the seals of said three corpo-
rations and the signatures of their respective presi-
dents, be deposited, to be recorded among the land
records of Baltimore County.

Duration.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the company consti-
tuted and composed of the several companies hereby
united and incorporated, under the name and style of
The Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Rail Road
Company shall have no longer or greater duration by
virtue of this act, than the longest period prescribed in
either of the several charters of the companies herein
mentioned, incorporated by the State.

Liabilities.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the Philadelphia,
Wilmington and Baltimore Rail Road Company here-
by incorporated, shall be responsible and liable for all
the contracts, debts, obligations, engagements and lia-
bilities at law or in equity of the several companies
hereby united, and shall hold, enjoy, occupy and be
