An act for the benefit of Samuel G. Holbrook, of Somer-
set County.
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assem-
bly, that Samuel G. Holbrook has become entitled to a
certain negro man named Major, in the Commonwealth
of Virginia, a slave for life, which said slave he is de-
sirous should reside in this State: — Therefore,
|
|
|

duce.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the introduction and removal of said negro man
Major, aged about twenty-eight years, who is a slave
for life, into this State, from the commonwealth of
Virginia, be, and the same is hereby made legal and
|
|
|
Condition.
|
valid to all intents and purposes; provided, the name,
age and sex of said slave shall be recorded in the office
of the clerk of Somerset county court within thirty days
from the passage of this law; and provided also, said
Samuel G. Holbrook shall comply with the requisitions
of the act of Assembly of December session eighteen
hundred and thirty-three, chapter eighty-seven.

An act relating to Indigent Out-Pensioners, in Queen
Anne's County,
|
|
|
Authority to ap-
ply $,1000.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Trustees of the Poor, of Queen
Ann's county be, and they are hereby authorised to
expend for the relief of such persons as the said trus-
tees shall judge proper to place on the list of indigent
out-pensioners, of said county, the sum of one thousand
dollars instead of the sum of six hundred dollars here-
tofore limited therefor by law.

Repealing
clause.
|
SEC 2. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of
acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act be, and
the same are hereby repealed.
