1837.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be
lawful for the said corporation to have a common seal
for their use, and the same at their will to change, alter
or make anew from time to time, as they may think

test, and shall, in general, have and exercise all such
rights, privileges and immunities as by law are inci-
dent or necessary to corporations, and what may be
necessary to the corporation herein constituted, and to
enable the members of the said order to exercise all
things concerning the design of this corporation, for
the benevolent relief of the sick and distressed and for
the promotion of their laudable purposes generally.

General powers.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be
lawful at any time, for the General Assembly to de-
mand a statement of the amount of property, real and
personal, belonging to the said corporation, and of the
debts due to and from the said corporation, and the
purposes for which disbursements shall have been made,
and shall also have the right to authorise one or more
persons to inspect such general accounts in the books
of the corporation as shall relate to such statements.

Authority to
examine.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the General Assem-
bly of Maryland reserves the right to change, alter or
annul this act of incorporation at any time.

CHAPTER 182.

Right reserved.

An act to confirm and make valid a dad of conveyance
from Joseph L. Smallwood to George 8. Adams.

Passed Mar. 20,
1838.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the deed executed on the fourteenth day of Octo-
ber in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and thirty-five, in Charles county, in the State of
Maryland, by Joseph L. Smallwood, conveying to
George S. Adams, of the county aforesaid, and his
heirs and assigns, all the right, title and interest of
him, the said Joseph L. Smallwood, of and in the real
estate therein mentioned of him, the said Joseph L.
Smallwood, late a citizen of the county ami state afore-
said acknowledged before, and certified by George R.
Spalding and H. A. Moore, esquires, two justices of
