CHAPTER 111.

An act to provide for building a bridge over Little Elk
Creek, in Cecil county, at a place therein mentioned.

WHEREAS, it appears to this General Assembly
of Maryland, from the petition of sundry citizens of
Cecil county, that they suffer great inconvenience and
difficulty because of the want of a bridge over that
part of Little Elk creek, near Mackall's mill, at the
place where said creek crosses the public road from
Elkton to the Blue Ball — Therfore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That James McCauley, Levi Tyson, and
Benjamin Miller, of Cecil county, be, and they are
hereby appointed commissioners for the purpose of buil-
ding a bridge over Little Elk Creek, at or near the
place where the public road from Elkton to Blue Ball
crosses said creek; and the said commissioners, or a
majority of them are, by this act, empowered and au-
thorised to agree and contract with any person or per-
sons, upon the most economical terms, to construct
said bridge, the cost of which shall not exceed five
hundred dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commission-
ers shall keep an account of the money expended in
erecting said bridge, and in case there be any money
left unexpended, after building said bridge, the same
shall be returned to the commissioners of Cecil coun-
ty, to be applied for the benefit of the county.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That a majority of said
commissioners shall be competent to transact any bu-
siness relating to said bridge; and if either of said
commissioners shall die, resign, or remove out of the
said county, the commissioners of Cecil county shall
fill such vacancies; and the commissioners are hereby
authorised to make such reasonable compensation to
the said commissioners, as they in their judgment may
think proper.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of Cecil county be and they are hereby authorised to
levy upon the assessable property of said county, the
