An act to change the time for the appointment of Overseer
of the Poor in Saint Mary's County.
|
|
|
Annually to e-
lect overseer.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the trustees of the poor for Saint Mary's county shall meet
at the poor's house in said county on some convenient
day during the month of July, in each and every year, for
the purpose of electing an overseer for the next year, who
shall enter upon the discharge of his duties on the first
day of January next ensuing his appointment.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if the said situation of
overseer shall at any time become vacant, said trustees
shall hold a meeting as soon thereafter as convenient, and
appoint some suitable person for the remainder of said
|
|
|

year; provided, that nothing in this act shall be so constru-
ed as to interfere with any right which said trustees may
now possess to remove said overseer at their discretion,
and to appoint another in his place.
|

|
Repealed.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all acts inconsistent
with the provisions of this act, be and the same are here-
by repealed.

A supplement to an act, entitled an act to consolidate the
duties of the Levy Court and Commissioners of the Tax
for Montgomery County, and prescribe their duties.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all that part of the seventh section of the act to
which this is a supplement, which imposes a penalty or
fine upon the clerk of the levy court and the clerk of
the commissioners of the tax, to be recovered by indict-
