WILLIAM GRASON, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

1839.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said trustees or
their successors, shall have the power of purchasing real
estate, lands and tenements in Kent county, from James
Mansfield, Junior, of said county, not exceeding four acres
in quantity, and of taking a conveyance for tie same, to
them and their successors, or in their corporate name, and
that the same shall be held for the benefit of the ministers
and preachers of the Methodist Episcopal church, on Kent
circuit, from time to time, or for the use and benefit of the
Methodist Episcopal church in Kent circuit, in such man-
ner as the quarterly meeting conference in said circuit,

shall from time to time direct, and that they may sell
and convey the same under the direction of the said quar-
terly meeting conference, and that the said property shall
be subject to the rules, orders and regulations of the quar-
terly meeting conference from time to time; and that the
said trustees and their successors, to be chosen by the said
conference, may sue and be sued, implead and be implead-
ed, in any court of law or equity in this State, by their
corporate name.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said property when
purchased, shall be exempt from taxation.

CHAPTER 337.

Exempt from

tax.

An act to authorise William George Krebs, Trustee, to lease
certain property of Tudor Beall and Ann Catharine Beall,
in the City of Baltimore.

Passed Mar. 19,
1840.

WHEREAS, a decree was passed by Baltimore
county court, on the twenty-fifth day of May, eighteen
hundred and thirty-eight, upon the application of Benja-
min B. Beall, next friend of Tudor Beall and Ann Catha-
rine Beall, infants, by which William G. Krebs was ap-
pointed trustee, to lease a lot of ground in the city of Bal-
timore, belonging to the said infants, at the southwest in-
tersection of Howard and Madison streets; and whereas,
another decree has been since passed by the said court,
authorising the exchange of a part of the said lot of,
ground, for a part of an adjoining lot belonging to Jona-
than Meredith, Esquire, and directing the conveyance
thereof to the said infants — therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That when the said conveyance shall be made, the said
