WILLIAM GRASON, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

1839.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the right and franchi-
ses hereby granted, so far as respects the right to draw said
lottery, shall cease and determine at the end of the year
eighteen hundred and forty-five.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the managers of the
said lottery hereinbefore named, be and they are hereby
authorised to sell and assign said scheme if they shall deem
most advisable to do so; provided, that the sum specified
in the foregoing provisions of this bill shall be raised, clear
of all commissions and expenses.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act, all
those persons who have already associated and formed, or
may hereafter join, a company or limited partnership, un-
der the name and title of the Washington and Fredericks-
burg Steam Boat Company, and their successors, shall be
and they are hereby incorporated and made a body cor-

porate and politic, by the name and style of the Wash-
ington and Fredericksburg Steam Boat Company, and as
such, shall continue until the first day of January, eighteen
hundred and sixty; and by that name may sue and be sued,
implead and be impleaded, answer and be answered, de-
fend and be defended in courts of record and any other
place whatsoever; and by that name may have and hold,
purchase, receive, possess, enjoy and retain, lands, rents,
tenements, hereditaments, goods, chattels and effects, of
what nature, kind or quality soever, necessary for the ob-
jects of this incorporation, and the same may sell, grant,
demise, alien and dispose of; and by that name shall have,
during the continuance of this act, succession; and may
make, have and use a common seal, and the same may
break, alter and renew at pleasure; and shall have power
to ordain, establish and put in execution, such by-laws,
ordinances and regulations as shall seem necessary and
convenient for the government of (he said corporation, not
being contrary to law, nor the constitution thereof; and
generally to do and to execute all acts necessary or pro-
