SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of
Middletown shall have power and authority to enact and
pass by-laws and ordinances for the purchase and keep-
ing in repair and preservation an engine and apparatus for
the extinguishment of fires in said town.

of the North Baltimore Station.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly
of Maryland, that Thomas G. Hill, Columbus A. Leaman,
Samuel Hindes, George Sander , Joseph Farrow, Wil-
liam Rodgers, John Huiley, Robert Bolton, Frances Tur-
ner, James S. Suter, Jacob Day and Samuel Kirk, of the
city of Baltimore, have formed themselves into a society
for the purpose of teaching children on the Sabbath, and
are desirous of obtaining an act of incorporation to enable
them more fully to carry into effect their benevolent de-
sign; and whereas, this General Assembly is willing to
aid and encourage an institution so truly praiseworthy in
its object — therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the aforesaid persons, and such other
persons as may hereafter be admitted into the said society
agreeably to the present constitution, rules and bye-laws
of the same, or such alterations and amendments of the
constitution, or new rules and regulations as may hereafter
be made and adopted by the said society, shall be and they and
their successors are hereby declared to be one community,

whether the same be acquired by gift, purchase or devise
