LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 205.

Wallace Kirkwood, trustee of the said Clement Kennedy,
shall pay to the clerk of said court the sum of fifteen dol-
lars for each of said slaves so introduced by him, to be
paid over by said clerk to the treasurer of the western
shore for the use and benefit of the colonization society
of the State; and provided further, that the said Wallace
Kirkwood shall make oath that the said negroes are slaves
for life.

CHAPTER 205.

Passed Feb. 28,
1840.

A further supplement to an act, entitled an act to unite
Middletown, Keller's Addition to Middlelown, Groves'
Addition to Middletown and Wise's Addition to Middle-
town, into one, and incorporate the same.

Elections — and
where held.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That elections may hereafter be held under
the act. to which this is a further supplemental such house
in Middletown as may be selected and prescribed by the
judge of said election.

Burgess and

commissioners

to be elected.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That an election for burgess
and five commissioners of Middletown shall be held in
said town on the first Monday of April next, and on the
same day annually thereafter; and the first election under
this supplement shall be held by a judge appointed by a
justice of the peace residing in said town, and conducted
as prescribed by the original act.

To qualify, &c.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the burgess and five
commissioners hereafter elected in said town shall, within
ten days after notice of their election communicated in
writing by the judge of election, respectively qualify as
required by law, before a justice of the peace residing in
