CHAP. 100.

CHAPTER 99.

Passed Mar. 12,
1840.

A supplement to an act passed at December session eighteen
hundred and ten, chapter one hundred and twelve, relating
to Choptank Bridge.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is represented that Choptank bridge over
Choptank river, between Talbot and Caroline counties, is
in a dilapidated and ruinous condition, requiring thorough
repair or rebuilding; and whereas, by the testimony of a
competent mechanic, it is manifest that said bridge may
be rebuilt in a more permanent. and substantial manner by
altering the proportions thereof — Therefore,

Authority to
rebuild, &c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That it shall and may be lawful for Jacob C.
Wilson the present owner and proprietor of said bridge, to
rebuild the same in the most secure and substantial
manner, supported at each end by good and sufficient
abuttments or piers, and that the said bridge shall not be
less than thirteen feet wide in the clear, with railing on
each side thereof, at least four feet high; and there shall be a
draw in said bridge so rebuilt, at least twenty-four feet wide,
so as to afford a passage to vessels up and down said riv-
er; and the said Jacob C. Wilson shall at all times keep
a sufficient number of hands for the purpose of raising
said draw, and shall in all respects comply with the requi-
sitions of the tenth section of the original law to which
this is a supplement, except the portion thereof relating to
the dimensions of said bridge.

Repealing
clause.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of acts
that are inconsistent with or repugnant to the provisions
of this act, are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 100.

Passed Mar. 14,
1840.

An act to regulate Schools in Montgomery County, and to
provide for the equal distribution of school money in
said County.

Dividends to be

paid to com-

missioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That all the dividends due from the bank stocks
hitherto invested as the free school fund of Montgomery
county, and all other moneys that have accrued or may
hereafter accrue to said fund, shall be paid by the treasu-
