manner as other public charges are by law collected; and
the said sums of money when so as aforesaid respective-
ly collected, shall be paid by such collector to the afore-
said commissioners or their order or orders; and the com-
missioners of the tax are hereby authorised and required
to receive and apply the same to the uses and purposes by
this net directed; and the said commissioners of the dis-
trict shall receive no pecuniary compensation for the dis-
charge of the duties required of them by this act, over
and above their per diem.

CHAP. 98.

How applied.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That until the erection,
or purchase or lease of said buildings, the said commis-
sioners sire hereby directed and required to contract for
and provide the suitable necessary buildings for the pur-
poses above mentioned, at or near the place selected as the
. seat of justice, if they can be had at such place, and if
they cannot be there procured, then the said commission-
ers shall select them at such place as they may deem best.

SEC. 22. And be it enacted, That the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall ap-

point coroners for said district, as they are now appointed
for and in the counties of this State.

SEC. 23. And be it enacted, That the district court of
said district, or any judge thereof, shall have the same
power to appoint elisors within said district as is now ex-
ercised in the several counties of this Stale.

SEC. 24. And be it enacted, That all deeds of lands,
tenements and hereditaments lying in Howard district, and
executed after the appointment and qualification as such,
of a clerk of Howard district court of Anne Arundel
county, shall as well as all other instruments of writing,
which are by law required to be recorded by said clerk, as
deeds arc now recorded by the clerks of county courts,
and the laws in regard to recording and acknowledging
all deeds, conveyances or instruments of writing of every
description, shall apply to Howard district, the inhabitants
thereof and the clerk of the court of said district, as
though said district were a county, and said clerk were
the clerk of a county court; and either of the judges of
the court of Howard district of Anne Arundel county
shall have authority to qualify said clerk upon his appoint-
ment.
