CHAP. 392.

time require such augmentation, to make it fully ade-
quate to the redemption of the entire debt of the State,
by the time it may be redeemed in pursuance of the

is hereby inviolably pledged, to keep the said sinking
fund subsisting, and in uninterrupted operation, until
the redemption of the whole debt of the State, shall
have been accomplished by the regular compounding
of the said sinking fund.

CHAPTER 391.

An act in favour of Leonard Housholder, of Washing-
ton County, Maryland.

Insolvent laws ex-

tended to.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the judges of Washington county be, and they
are hereby authorised to grant to Leonard Hous-
holder, of Washington county, the benefit of the seve-
ral acts of Assembly, passed for the relief of insolvent
debtors; provided, the said Leonard Housholder shall,
in all respects, except that of proving residence, com-
ply with the requisitions of said acts of Assembly, and
that he satisfy said judges of Washington county court
that he did not come into this State with a view of ob-
taining the benefit of said insolvent laws; and provided
the said Leonard Housholder shall be compelled to file
his petition for the benefit of said insolvent laws, with

a justice of the orphans' court of said county, who is

hereby authorised and directed to make the necessary
orders and discharge him from actual custody, on the
usual terms, without proof of residence.

CHAPTER 392.

An act to prevent Betting on Elections, in the State of
Maryland.

Betting prohibited.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act

it shall not be lawful for any person or persons to
