CHAPTER 47.

An act for the relief of Charles G. Walker, of the city
of Baltimore.

CHAP. 48.

Passed Feb. 6,
1839.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Charles G. Walker be, and he is hereby autho-
rised to introduce into this State, and hold as slaves,
negroes Ephraim, Solomon, Asa and Sukey; provided,
the said Charles G. Walker, within sixty days from
the passage of this law, shall file with the Clerk of
Baltimore county, a description of such slaves, stating
their ages, with an affidavit thereto annexed, stating
that the same is a true and faithful description of such
negroes, and that they are not removed into this State,
for the purpose of sale; and that they are slaves for
life; and provided also, that the said Charles G.
Walker pay over to the Clerk of Baltimore County
Court sixty dollars, for the use of the Colonization
Society of the State, as required by the act of eighteen
hundred and thirty-three, chapter eighty-seven.

CHAPTER 48.

May introduce

slaves.

Condition prescrib-

ed.

An act to authorize Peter Gough, of St. Mary's County,
to bring into this State, a negro, slave for life

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall
and may be lawful for Peter Gough, to bring into this
State, a negro man named Clem Dorsey, a slave for
life, the property of the said Peter Gough; provided,
that within thirty days after such removal, he shall
cause to be recorded in the office of the Clerk of St.
Mary's county court, the name of the said negro slave
so removed; provided, also, That at or before the time
of making such record, the said Peter Gough shall pay
to the clerk of said county court, the sum of fifteen
dollars to be paid over by said clerk to the Treasurer
of the Western Shore for the use and benefit of the
Colonization society of this State.
