teacher for said school districts respectively.

Apportionment of
school funds.
|
Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That the commissioners
of St. Mary's county, shall annually hereafter appor-
tion the sum they shall be entitled to receive from the
Treasurer of the Western Shore, under this act, equal-
ly among the several school. districts who shall have
substantially 'complied with the provisions of this act,

and they are hereby authorized to pay over such dis-
tributive share to the trustees of any school district,
whenever such trustees shall certify to them, that they
have employed a teacher qualified as above mentioned,
and kept their school open for at least six months of
such year, free for the instruction of all white children
in such district; provided, nothing herein contained
shall prevent the trustees of any school district, from
dismissing any pupil from said school, for misbeha-
viour.

Quorum.
|
Sec. 9. And be it enacted, That a majority of the
commissioners of primary schools, of any election dis-
trict, and also a majority of the trustees of any school
district, shall be competent to transact any business or
duty devolved upon them by this act.

Sec. 10. And be it enacted, That the commissioners,
for St. Mary's county, be and they are hereby empow-
ered to fill by appointment of some qualified person or
persons, any vacancy or vacancies occurring at any
time hereafter in the commissioners of primary schools,
from death, resignation, refusal to serve, or removal

from the district, and the commissioners of primary
schools are hereby likewise empowered, to fill by ap-
pointment of some qualified person or persons, any va-
cancy or vacancies occurring at any time by death,
resignation, refusal to serve, or removal out of the
school district, in the trustees of any school district in

their respective election districts, and it shall be the
further duty of said commissioners of primary schools,
at least once a year if not oftener, to visit and inspect
the condition of the schools in their respective election

missioners, on or before the first day of January, in
each and every year, the condition of the several
schools in their respective election districts, and the
number of pupils taught therein, together with such
